Giant Cholula Bottle
Friday night I was able to go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s BBQ Cookoff Competition. It was quite awesome! Besides the great food that we had at a couple different tents, there were some other really great things. First, for those of you that know some of my eating habits…this was a dream come true. Almost enough for one meal in a single bottle!
I find it humorous that I go to IHOP about 3 times a week and I use enough Cholula on my meal that it costs at least half of the cost of my meal for the half bottle of Cholula required. I guess I have to just admit that eggs, hash browns, and grits are really just great ways to make it so that you don’t just drink the host sauce but get to hold it. They are the body of the hot sauce
. Love the stuff!

Loverboy Concert
Besides the great food that we had there was Loverboy in concert in the garden! It was pretty cool getting to go back to the 80′s with them. Unfortunately, the sound dude was wearing headphones and listening to what it sounded like to mix things and it was probably the third song before he seemed to notice that the vocals weren’t on in the mains. We could hear some vocals but I think it was just the monitors that we were hearing. He’d talk to the crowd and no one would respond because we couldn’t hear and understand what he was saying. Good thing they had some great old tunes that people recognized because they never got he sound right. 80% band, 20% vocals. But still, it was great and I loved being at a concert anyway.

Our ride to the rodeo
Our ride to the show was in this nice big stretched hummer. We were guests of TW Telecom (I’m a reseller if you have some telecom needs) and they shuttled everyone back and forth from the BBQ in these limos. Instead of having to park way off at the rodeo, they had us all meet up at a hotel near the galleria and then took the limos over. It was pretty cool. I’m not that impressed by limos anymore after having been run around in limos a lot in my younger years. But it was cool to go with the wife somewhere. Of course, the trip back with the very drunk people riding along with us was interesting as well

. I preferred the not-yet-drunk folks I could hold reasonable conversations with on the way over better.
We have tickets to go a couple more times this year so I’ll add some notes of those experiences.
