		<description>Sorry 2b, but the drives went to my brother in his Terastation ;-).  

As far as zero&#039;ing the 4 500GB drives, I bet it takes about 4 days to do that.  But you can use the TS during that time.  You can format the drives and get it back up to working within just a few minutes.  The format should only take 10-15 minutes and then you can get it back up and running.  The RAID-5 zero process will take place in the background while you are working so you can still start using it immediately.  If you are unable to get past formatting, there is something else wrong.

Nice articel you posted here. Im siitting in front of a similar problem. Had to replace 2 drives in my TS1. But now i got nothing... Formatting only (the) one drive isnt possible. Formatting all drives takes 2 days till now... Webinterface freezes, saying &quot;formatting disks&quot; ! Is it ok so far ?! How long could it take to zero 4 500gb drives !?
